In the last year I've replaced 8 CD/Clockradios. Various makes and models ranging in price from $40 - $75. They just stop working, sometimes after making noises. Really not worth servicing even if I thought they could be resurrected. These little babies cost a little bit more, but with the addition of an SD memory card, the solid state mp3 player can hold a ton of recorded music, photo slide shows ( 7" screen) and even video travelogues (AVI's). NO MOVING PARTS to wear out and break down! Travelers can also plug their own digital music players into the device for playing back their own favorite playlists. Philips AJL308

These are truly magic. An innkeepers newest best friend (old friends still include the plunger, duct tape and the tube of bathroom caulk). I have tackled previously hopeless paint scratches and routine mars and smudges with amazing results. Try it, you'll become a believer when you can avoid a repaint job.

It's cold and virus season. Before leaving a room our housekeepers wipe down all hard surfaces with disinfectant wipes. We travel with them also - you never know.

Always ahead of the curve, I first discovered the Bhudda Machine on the popular blog BoingBoing.net. Purported to be a cure for insomnia, I liked it so much I tapped one into our phone system for "music" on hold. Don't worry, we'll wake you gently we we return to the line. The November/December AAA VIA magazine gives the device it's due describing it as a soothing "ipod". Give us a call and ask us to put you on hold.

Emeril loves CORO wines and so do we. Haven't tried them all, but the Eaglepoint Ranch version, a blend of Zinfandel, Syrah and Petite Sirah is what I've been reaching for lately!
